Someone asked me today how it felt to be "almost old and 30". Strangely, I didn't even have to think about it before answering and it's so liberating!
My answer was/is this:
I'm more excited than upset.
I've had gray hair for 10 years now- so that's nothing new. I accept that I'll be spending 2 hours stuck in a salon chair once a month from here on out. No big deal.
I'm pretty sure I'm accomplishing things in the order I should be. It's not the perfect receipe for everyone but it works for me. Building up my career- building up my life- dating and (most importantly) learning from each relationship. Solidifying relationships with the friends and family I love- and making sure they know exactly how I feel.
I'm in better shape physically and mentally now than I was at the age of 20. Back then, I walked with my head hung low, didn't know the importance of eye contact, didn't have the self esteem to get out and enjoy myself on the dance floor. It all takes time. You've gotta marinate.
Now, I feel strong, confidant and ready for a new chapter of life that I'm positive will totally trump all of the great things I think I've experienced thus far.
As far as my biological clock- yeah, it's ticking. Not gonna lie about that. But, I'm smart enough to know it's nothing that should be rushed. Just like everything else I've experienced- It'll all happen when it's meant to. I'm pretty grateful and pleased with the life I've lived this far and I'm honestly excited about what's to come.

Tiger, go away...
Sitting here watching the Tiger Woods 2pm press conference on CNN...
It lends a few ideas to explain a small bit about why people might fear commitment. After all of the trials and tribulations we go through in attempt to find a "mate for life", there's stuff like that to worry about. I'm not even pointing fingers at one particular gender or another. It's mind blowing to think that a human being can be capable of leading what, in essence is a double life- times a dozen! The guy was hooking up with enough women to fill a short bus and... he wasn't just sleeping with them! They weren't one-shot deals. He was building and maintaining emotional relationships with all of them. Flying them across the globe. Having sleepovers in hotel rooms. Going out for Subway wraps. Watching Desperate Housewives. All in the name of ego. I'm baffled by any human being capable of creating relationships like these. It's truly sickening and sad all at the same time.

Revamping
YES, it's that time of the year. Spring cleaning. Taking giant trash bags full of unused goods to Goodwill for someone else to enjoy. Purging myself of all things unnecessary. Feels good. And, thanks to my love of decor, my wonderfuly stylish former General Manager and a my fabulously informed gay friend, Matt, my house is becoming a home.
My problem has always been this- the fact that I am good at accessorizing but terrible when it comes to choosing large pieces. Same goes for my outfits. The clothing might be off but I always nail it with accessories. So, I need these two to keep me in line. My first step, after selling all of my existing bedroom furniture, was searching for a bed. I'm kinda through with sleeping on a mattress and boxspring on the floor. I'm also sick of having my belongings strewn about all over the place.
So- the look I'm transitioning into is more of a Baroque style and if you have any suggestions for side tables and furniture- I'm game! Also looking for other accessories and wall decor ideas.

A call from one of Tiger's mistresses...
The show was contacted by an anonymous woman who claims to have had an affair with Tiger Woods. This would make her number 11... er... 12? I've actually lost count but--It was a pretty cool moment for us.
This is from RAMP Magazine:
Seems you can't swing a 9-iron these days without smacking someone who's either a) talking about Tiger Woods' recent non-golf-related exploits, or b) someone who claims to have... um... intimate knowledge of his putter. [Ed. note: Yes, we went there.] That club has now squarely smacked RAMP, so here we go: Danny, Deena & Chad, the morning troika on Palm Beach Hot AC WRMF/West Palm Beach, received an interesting call this week from yet another in an ever-expanding bevy of women who claimed to have enjoyed carnal relations with Mr. Woods. Their anonymous source, who RAMP has helpfully code-named "Sand Trap," said, "I don't have any text messages saved, but I have something else..." before dropping this bombshell: "As weird as this sounds, when he was sleeping one night, I took pictures of him naked." Okay then! Ms. Trap claims that she and her lawyer are in negotiations to sell her pics to Playgirl, but said Tiger didn't know about them and that she mainly took them to prove to her friends that Mr. Woods had, in fact... [insert clever "hole-in-one" joke here].
"She didn't give us much information on herself," PD Bob Neumann tells RAMP about the mystery caller. "Crazy, perhaps... we're not sure," he says, although he's not complaining that his station got some sweet added-value mentions from Dirty.com, the NBC affiliate in Miami and now some stupid rag called RAMP.

"Just Inching" says the worm...
I had a great draft written last month. About all the happenings in my life. Things with work, the boyfriend, friends, travel... yadda. Well, there seems to have been a shifting of the tides because this month is drastically different than last month. I'm thinking my year will end way different than it began and, although it's hard to believe it right now... I'm sure it's for the best.
I am, once again, a single lady. {Cue the Beyonce song}. It's hard for me to even type that, being that I was planning a future with this man but you can't plan a future alone, can you? I won't say much about that whole ordeal out of respect to him but I'm very proud of myself for one HUGE thing I took away from it. I tried. For the first time in my dating life I tried with all my might. I really put blood (not REAL blood, it just sounds good) sweat and tears into this one and, even though it didn't work... I feel good. I gave it my all. At the age of 29 (I'm a slow developer) I practiced patience, compromise, sharing, caring, nurturing, nesting and all that lovey jazz. It felt wonderful... and some day soon, someone will appreciate it and reciprocate in the way that I need them to. Until then-- I will enjoy the comfort of my FANTABULOUS friends and family. I'll cook, I'll redecorate, I'll read and travel and try new things...Oh, speaking of... Just booked a Thanksgiving Ziplining adventure with a bunch of my girls. Yes, Ziplining for the holidays! The pilgrims would be so proud. It's on my personal bucket list and will sooner than later be crossed off.
I'm really kicking it into overdrive for the remaining few months of the year. Last month, I found myself in Santa Monica, California for the first time and also submersed in a dunk tank. Last week, I attended a photoshoot for Jupiter Beach Magazine for their "Top 40 Under 40" January edition. That was a blast... and I got to wear a blazer for the occasion. Faking "grown-up" status is a must do from time to time. It makes me appreciate my career that much more. Anyway, I'll be sure to post some of the final proofs from the photoshoot once they're released and the ziplining pics as well.

LOVE
Love comes in many forms... and, it is out of pure love and admiration for my amazing friend, Stacey, that I am posting the speech she is giving tonight about her mom. Rhonda was involved in a massive motorcycle accident that shocked all of us into the realization that life is truly very short and unpredictable.
I have learned SO much in the vein of giving, compassion and love from Stacey through the years and was just moved while reading what she wrote about her. Mostly, because I realized she inherited every single quality she so admires about her mom. Most of us fear getting older and becoming our parents. After reading this... You might look at things a little differently.
Before you read her speech, I'd like to thank the Foundation for Community Betterment, of which I am PROUD to be a part of, for chosing to help Rhonda pay for her medical bills which, as you might imagine, are piling up!

Who is Rhonda Becker?
She is a super-mom, a devoted daughter and sister, and my best friend in the whole world. By day she was a diligent & ethical employee who helped raise the spirits of women battling breast cancer. By night she was a Harley riding free spirit who loved the invigorating rush of feeling her hair blow in the wind!
My mom is the type of woman who bends over backwards to make others happy…even if it’s at the expense her own well being. She always put her children first, her family second, her friends third, her employer fourth, everyone else next, and herself last. Even while lying in a hospital bed, she worries about doing what will make her family happy, rather than doing what makes her the most comfortable.
Over the last seven months I have had the opportunity to advocate for her and put her first. I have been on a mission to prove to her how important she is. Moreover, I appreciate your support in helping me show her that it is time to let others take care of her, and that there are people out there who are willing to help. With help from the community, we will be able continue paying her bills while she is recovering, and we will be able to access the home care that she will need to ensure a good quality of life.
3 months after participating in the toys for tots charity bike ride, my mom was in a motorcycle accident. This traumatic experience left her with several life threatening injuries, and a 10% chance to live. After practically living with her in the ICU for two months, the hospital for 3 months, and a skilled nursing facility for two months, she is currently staying at an acute rehab facility. She is learning to walk again and to independently conquer her activities of daily living. Tasks that we take for granted f every day, such as, brushing our hair, going to the bathroom, showering, and even sitting are painful and overwhelming for her. She recently learned to walk with a walker, and I am optimistic that she will be able to take a few steps on her own at the Paddle for Betterment event next month. Please bring extra tissues because I will probably be overcome with joy, which will result in a monsoon of tears!

I have learned SO much in the vein of giving, compassion and love from Stacey through the years and was just moved while reading what she wrote about her. Mostly, because I realized she inherited every single quality she so admires about her mom. Most of us fear getting older and becoming our parents. After reading this... You might look at things a little differently.
Before you read her speech, I'd like to thank the Foundation for Community Betterment, of which I am PROUD to be a part of, for chosing to help Rhonda pay for her medical bills which, as you might imagine, are piling up!

Who is Rhonda Becker?
She is a super-mom, a devoted daughter and sister, and my best friend in the whole world. By day she was a diligent & ethical employee who helped raise the spirits of women battling breast cancer. By night she was a Harley riding free spirit who loved the invigorating rush of feeling her hair blow in the wind!
My mom is the type of woman who bends over backwards to make others happy…even if it’s at the expense her own well being. She always put her children first, her family second, her friends third, her employer fourth, everyone else next, and herself last. Even while lying in a hospital bed, she worries about doing what will make her family happy, rather than doing what makes her the most comfortable.
Over the last seven months I have had the opportunity to advocate for her and put her first. I have been on a mission to prove to her how important she is. Moreover, I appreciate your support in helping me show her that it is time to let others take care of her, and that there are people out there who are willing to help. The First Day of Fall
There's just something about it! I obsess over the fall season. I love the crisp air (when the humidity isn't kicking), pumpkin patches, stuffing, sweet potato pie, string bean cassarole with those fried crunchy lard strings on top. Although I don't like football, I'm a big fan of the high-end commercials. I love smelling and decorating Christmas trees, eating Matzoh Ball soup at my friends' parents' homes. I get all excited about the big budget movies, the Halloween costumes, the inevitable re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas and the constant airing of A Christmas Story on TBS. I always buy one of those cinnamon brooms that they sell for $3.99 at Publix, even though the scent wears off after a day or two. I get to wear boots and scarves and cozy sweaters... even though people sometimes yell "Are you kidding me?! We live in FLORIDA... there's no winter here!".
Here's the only catch about the fall season..... The Halloween costume shops. Can't handle em. The smell of latex masks hits my gag reflex and I feel like I'm about to puke instantly. Wigs creep me out. Fake blood is gross. As much as I enjoy a creative costume, I have to watch from afar. My sense of smell kicks into overdrive and it's all too much to handle.
All in all- Costume shops aside, I am SO excited for the season and I have great hope that there are good things to come for everyone. Yep. You too!

Even Timbaland's getting in on the sucking action...
TIMBALAND says his next album, "Shock Value 2", was inspired by "Twilight", "True Blood", and the overall vampire hysteria that's now GRIPPING the nation.
--The first single off of his upcoming album will be a dance track but will "fit in perfectly with the popular vampire theme".
--"Shock Value 2" is scheduled to drop on November 23rd . . . The "vampire track" hits within the next few weeks...
I'm not the first person to pose this question and I LOVE Timbaland but... Who is jumping the shark here? The vampire craze or hip hop??
